Red Bull Racing spends over 500 million dollars a year on their F1 race team to win the championship in 21 races, spanning about a 7-month season.
This past summer in Spa, Belgium, I spent the race in the Red Bull Paddock Club suite, located above the pit lane at the start/finish line.
I was with my wife enjoying Champaign, eating fine food, doing some virtual reality racing and just hanging out with the Red Bull girls and VIPs.
I went down to the pits and the garage on a few occasions.
It was quite a thrill to wander about with the team drivers and other team members.
I asked about how they do what they do. Of course, everyone has very specific jobs.
But it goes far beyond that.
Everything they do is practiced with total efficiency in mind.
They practice their choreographed pit stops to the Nth degree.
Their pit stop goal is to change all 4 tires and have the driver on his way in just 2.5 seconds.
Incredible to watch!
But they can’t do that unless everything is in its place.
Unless their process is perfect!
And everyone knows exactly what they’re supposed to do.
