Have you ever used your phone to create a video that would drive me or your local TV station crazy?

The answer for most people is “Yes!”

With the proliferation of Smart Phones these days you see home-made or personally-made videos everywhere from network TV, to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.

The problem is that most people making these videos are from amateurs and the word “Smart” isn’t doing the phone or them justice.

What am I talking about?

Let me answer by asking you a question.

What are the dimensions of your flat-screen TV? Answer: 16 x 9.

You might say, 16 x 9, what? It doesn’t really matter, but just look at the shape of your TV.

It’s longer along the top and bottom than it is on the sides, right?

Then why do you insist on creating video with your phone upright, with the short sides on the top and bottom? Doing this makes your video dimensions 9 x 16, which is why when you see those news reports from someone’s phone, they blur the edges.

This is done to avoid black, blank screen on the sides.

Old TVs had the dimensions of 4 x 3, but this increased screen area of 16 x 9 isn’t being utilized if you don’t shoot your videos correctly.

Would you like it if you went to the theatre and the videographer had created the movie in 9 x 16 instead of the widescreen you see these days.

So here’s my point.

Please, for your sake and the sake of your audience, when creating video using your phone, ALWAYS turn your phone on its side. You’ll capture more and create a more valuable and enjoyable video.

If you are thinking about building an online business and using video at any stage in your business, you’ll want to create the best quality you can. This one simple technique will go a very long way to helping you do that.

And if you’d like an example of what I’m talking about, you can see this video I created here.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, be sure to check out the video.

I’m sure it will hit the point home and it’ll be as clear as your widescreen TV.
