Privately Funded action plan for Canada In Reaction To Covid 19 – NO BAIL-OUT NEEDED
There needs to a multi-faceted approach to getting the economy back on track after this Covid 19. Ideally, most of the stimulus can come from the private sector. (but that’s not how Government usually approaches things)
The plan is bold and would require a substantial amount of leadership by members of our governments. (good luck)
While the main point of my plan focuses on pipelines, the resounding trickle-down across virtually every level of the economy would be astounding.
Here’s the plan:
The Federal Government announces unconditionally it’s time that we Canada becomes energy self-sufficient and that we do our world-duty and supply our longtime allies with the best, safest, most ethical, most technologically and efficiently extracted oil and gas on the planet. As part of the plan, we will be investing with the private sector to help create sustainable long-term alternatives to oil in the coming decades.
The Gov should call for “shovel-ready” plans to begin building one or more LNG plants on the east coast to supply Europe and fast-track what is needed in the BC LNG projects. The goal must be to start construction and get on with it, not do a bunch of studies that take years. This is an emergency plan for the long-term benefit of everyone in Canada. The east coast LNG and oil distribution facilities are part of the plan to help our European allies get away from counting on Russia for its natural gas and oil.
In addition, the Gov should say; “To do this, we are creating an absolute fast-track of the Trans Mountain Pipeline. We are also fast-tracking both the Northern Gateway Pipeline and the East West Pipeline to get oil to the east coast to begin shipping to Europe.
Our goal is to stop the importing of oil into Canada in all regions. This means no more importing from US. As well as Venezuela, Senegal, Saudi Arabia and other repressive regimes nations.
This will boost the CDN Federal and Provincial revenues by tens of billions of dollars and a portion of those will be dedicated to supporting private businesses involved in creating renewable energy solutions through tax incentives. As part of the plan, all levels of government will eliminate all Carbon Taxes effective immediately, putting hundreds and in many cases thousands of dollars back into the pockets of everyday Canadians and consumers.
As importantly, the revenue from the Self-Sustainment plan will fund the medical system, reducing and eliminating waiting lines, providing for new equipment and create long-term improvements to the health system. Schools and the other important social systems will also feel an injection of funding across Canada.
This plan will create 400,000 jobs (guesstimate on my part, it may be more) all across Canada and vitalize not just Albert, but all areas of Canada with short-term and long-term high-paying employment opportunities.
Bold leadership and bold action is required – NOW. We don’t just need the same old Government action of supporting special interests or just throwing money at the system. The decisions that were crippling Canada’s economy before Covid 19 need to be reversed. A fast-track with the goal of commencing the shipments from these ports in no longer than three years and preferably two years must be announced.
IF the government took action like this, we would see a recovery in Canada like no other country in the world. Any chance they will step up and do something so bold??
