Would you rather have a “follower” on Facebook or have someone’s email address?

Whether I’m talking about marketing in business or the contact info of a friend, I’d rather have their email address.

85% of the people on the internet will use email, while only 62% use social media in some form. There are three times more email accounts than Facebook and Twitter combines and 90% of business people use their email more this year than they did last year.

The bottom line is that email isn’t going anywhere and in fact its use is growing.

One of the reasons is because it’s the easiest way to reach people via their mobile device.

When you’re starting an online business you likely have zero emails of people that are interested in the offers you want to bring to market.

This can be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be.

One of the choices you’ll make when starting your business is whether you want to use paid or “free” traffic to build your audience.

The word “free” is in quotes for a reason. There is no such thing as free.

Although, building your list via free traffic is completely doable, it will take time and as I’ve said in the past, time is your most valuable commodity.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to go the free traffic route, just know what you are getting into. It requires persistence and consistency. What I mean by that is, that you must be posting your message in high-traffic areas daily.

The good news is that there are several online tools that can help you make this easier and less time demanding.

However, one of the fastest ways to grow you email list is to use paid traffic. Facebook is one of the best because it allows you to hone in on your specific demographic and get to the people that are most interested in what you are offering.

There’s also a method called “solo ads.” This is where you use someone else’s email list and mail your message to that list.

There are many solo ad providers, some excellent and some less so. When you have someone send an email on your behalf, to their list, it can be a very powerful and an effective way to build your list quickly. (of course, you’ll need to pay a fee for this service)

Additionally, when doing solo ads, if you can have the owner of the list endorse you and your offer, that’s makes your email even better.
