Have you ever talked with someone who had the innate “need” to be right?

They will constantly point out how they are or were right in any given circumstance.

In doing so, they will cut you off, negate a counter point of view you may have or even tell you, you are wrong, even though you know you are the one who is right.

It can get quite annoying, really annoying. In a case this like this, it’s often just best to ignore these people and move on.

However…

There are times when it may be important to be right, but what about being wrong? Can you admit it when you are?

As an entrepreneur, you must be willing to be wrong occasionally. It’s true.

One simple example would be in a marketing campaign.

When starting a campaign your objective is likely to either make sales or increase your reach through the growing of your list.

However, when starting out on any campaign, you don’t know for sure if its going to work. So, you test. Even if your numbers are good, you make an adjustment to see if you can improve them.

This is called your “control” ad. Once you have your control set, your now in competition with yourself to beat your control numbers.

To do this, you must first be willing to accept that you may have been wrong with your initial ideas.

The elements you might test would include the headline, the color of the buttons, the sub-headline, images and so on.

Of course, we want to minimize our chances of being wrong and there are ways to do that.
