In the recent US election, waterboarding as a “persuasive” interrogation technique got a lot of news coverage.
Everyone has their own ideas of what constitutes abuse. It could also come down to the specific situation in some cases.
But this isn’t a political commentary.
I know my mother didn’t think of her actions as abusive at the time and we recently had an opportunity to joke about her imposed discipline.
For the record, I would never say my mother was abusive, because in my mind, it simply isn’t true.
You decide though.
I was about two years old and saw a roll of Lifesavers on the counter, near the cash register of a store we’d done some shopping in.
I desperately wanted the sweet treats.
My mother really didn’t want to buy them for me. I’m not sure, but she has a huge sweet-tooth and might have been afraid she would eat them (not really).
She decided to give-in to my pleading. I mean, how could she possibly resist the wishes of such a cute kid, right?
However, my treasure came with one proviso.
Mom decided to negotiate the terms of her gift to me.
She made me promise that I would only eat one Lifesaver a day. For a two-year-old, is that inhumane or what?!
But, I was desperate, so I agreed to her terms. (I’m a better negotiator today!)
My mother handed over the roll of candy and as agreed, I proceeded to eat only one Lifesaver a day until the roll was gone. My brothers weren’t born yet, so I didn’t even have to share.
Here’s the thing.
Some people are born or trained with discipline that can be put to great use in the future.
Most people, however, are in the position of requiring extra discipline in the areas of their life that matter.
Like doing what’s necessary to build a business and create the habits of success.
That’s where your PPMs come in. These are personal programming messages.
In my upcoming Perpetual Wealth webinar, I’ll detail how in just 7-Minutes a day you can automatically “program” your mind with the discipline needed for success.
These messages will change your life. They changed mine, even though I already had some discipline in my life.
Be the first to get the sweet preview. https://app.webinarjam.net/register/4971/4049b6be6b
