There are good jokes.
There are bad jokes.
And then there are really bad jokes.
The only reason I’d tell you a really bad joke is if there’s actually a really important lesson in it (that’s your warning).
But first, here’s the joke:
What did one internet guru say to the other internet guru?
“You show me your niche and I’ll show you mine.”
A real groaner, I know!
But keep reading.
As I said, there’s an important lesson for anyone wanting to make money online.
And it’s a big mistake many if not most online marketers make. And if you’re talking with different marketers, there’s some controversy as to whether I’m right or not.
Just to be clear – I am right.
The mistake marketers make? They don’t cooperate with other marketers in their niche.
Here’s the thing with online.
It’s vast – it’s big – there are a TON of people.
You won’t get them all.
So, get over it.
But you can get more, if you cooperate.
Here’s what I mean.
Let’s say you have a list of 500 or 5,000 or whatever.
You know or find someone else that has a list of a similar size.
Some of those people have bought from you and that’s great.
You know they’re buying from someone else as well, right? They are, trust me.
Why not profit from it, indirectly?
You send an email or set of emails to your list promoting this other person’s site and/or free or paid product,
In return, your new buddy sends emails to his or her list.
This way, you both build your list.
It’s likely a significant portion of your list isn’t going to buy from you anyway.
Maybe they just relate better to the other person.
That’s great! You’re doing your list a service by introducing them to other people in complimentary or similar niches.
You serve your people and you build your list at the same time. Everyone wins!
Oh – I’m sure you wouldn’t – but NEVER give/sell your email list to someone else – NEVER! You are the one in control of what’s said to your list. Always be true to your list and serve them.
