Sometimes you just have to take a second look and then shake your head.
Sue Peckitt, a wonderful 65-year-old lady, was fined by the police in the UK for pouring her coffee down the drain at the side of the road.
What?
Exactly!
The charge or violation was, “introducing poisonous, noxious or polluting matter into the drainage system.”
Can you name a restaurant or person that hasn’t poured their coffee down the drain?
OK, maybe there’s a difference between a storm drain and my drain that goes through the treatment facility, but really? A cup of coffee?
Isn’t that a charge meant for people dumping oil from their car down the drain after an oil change?
And to make matters worse, the local court upheld the fine!
Absolute stupidity if you ask me.
But after the press got hold of the details and embarrassed the heck out of the establishment, the City Council came to its senses, overturned and cancelled the fine.
But the level of absurdity that seems to go on these days occasionally makes me shake my head in disbelief.
The best solution?
Be in control of your own world.
Yes, sometimes it will be interrupted by the actions of others, but being in control of your destiny is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.
