Public speaking is often said to be one of people’s most feared activities.
To some, it ranks as more fearful that death by fire!
I witnessed this as proof-positive in a very long-time friend of mine.
He’s in the sales business and is often required to give presentations to potential buyers and at their staff training sessions.
I remember early in his career he’d have panic attacks the night before he had to make a presentation.
There was one time I literally had to talk him down from the ledge… not from jumping but quitting his job.
He’s gone on to be a tremendous success so I’m really glad he didn’t quit.
Luckily, I don’t really have an issue with speaking in public.
I’ve spoken on stage to crowds as big as 2,000 people with several big name speakers, including Mark Victor Hansen (of Chicken Soup for the Soul fame).
My lack of fear might come from all the stage acting I did through high-school. And, actually, acting classes can have all sorts of benefits when it comes to doing presentations or just coming out of “your shell” if you’re very introverted.
Often, when talking with clients, students and others they’ll say, “I couldn’t create an online course.”
Sometimes it’s because they don’t think they have anything to teach, or because of their presentation skills.
But then they also ask, “so, how do I create an online business?”
Well…
How about this?
Don’t create a product of your own.
Sell someone else’s as an affiliate and get paid for doing it.
This is known as affiliate marketing.
Some affiliates I know earn more than a million dollars a year… some even well over $10 million a year.
Of course, like anything, to become a good affiliate marketer there’s some learning to do.
One of the best programs I know of is about to close-off registration on Feb 15.
It’s very, very comprehensive and worth every penny.
It isn’t cheap, but like I said, it’s worth it.
