American Express sets themselves apart from regular credit cards in several ways.
First, having one of their cards is deemed “membership,” not just a simple credit card.
They aren’t a credit card; they’re a “charge card.”
You must fully pay it off every month. (Which you should be doing anyway!)
There are “privileges” that come with that membership.
Or so they say. Here’s the story…
My wife and I were in Miami for six weeks over Christmas and New Year, and unfortunately had to put our privileges to the test.
My wife wasn’t feeling well for several days.
Unable to eat.
Or drink (anything).
Vomiting.
And there was horribly excruciating, decompensating pain.
After four days of her being a total trooper and barely being able to move, it was time for the hospital.
Being from Canada we don’t have direct medical coverage in the US unless we buy it.
Which I had not (not why we didn’t go to the hospital earlier – my wife’s choice).
Why didn’t we buy it?
Didn’t think about it for one thing.
But also, we’re “supposed” to be covered by the Amex Centurion card (Black Card) we carry, and use for pretty much everything.
After 14 long hours in Emergency, it was decided that they weren’t going to admit her and suggested a follow up in the future.
She had a blockage of some sort in her kidney.
She recovered well afterwards with some medication.
While just starting the emergency process I called Amex card services. They put me though to the insurance division.
To my delight, they said everything is covered. They only need to authorize certain tests and procedures.
No problem.
And, it wasn’t!
14 hours and $7,500 later, we were done.
The Amex privileges not only covered it all, they handled it all too.
We just needed to confirm with a couple of signatures.
With Amex, membership does indeed have its privileges!
I’m a fan.
And…
Membership in my Perpetual Wealth Club has its privileges also.
- Like access to my latest up to the minute trades and wealth accelerating strategies.
- A monthly webinar where we cover the latest on the current positions and you get to ask your questions.
- Education on the process of exponentially growing your net worth.
- And much, much more.
It’s basically free, because you should be able to make way more money than the monthly investment to be part of the Club.
